Hello. I need to purchase a skimmer for a 150g DT. I'll be going with the RO Elite, but wasn't sure if the Elite 200 will be enough for heavy bio-load on a 150g DT. BRS recommends it for 125g but other websites shows 200g heavy bio-load. Is the BRS recommend accurate? Does anyone have or knows if the Elite 200 will be enough for 150g heavy bio load? Or do I need to get the Elite 220? Thank you!

Skimmer recommendations are guesses at best and almost always wrong. Unless you are running a bunch of other filtration like filter fleece/socks/roller, algae scrubber, and maybe something else...the 220 is likely the better choice for heavy bio load. Especially if you have the sump space

Neither, I would look at the 150 model skimmer from RO, hopefully they are still on sale.

Thats a hard one to fully answer since there are other details that affect the "best" choice.

Are you planning on using a filter roller? If so then -bioload level by 3

Is your heavy bioload consisting of a lot of small fish/few big fish/a lot of big fish? -1/+1/+2

Are you heavy handed with feeding/+feed more than once a day?
+1/+2/+3

If you're a 2+ I would suggest going with the elite 220, if under but not 0 then elite 200 or smaller.

Keep in mind this is more of a generally made up scale but hopefully it helps.

For an additional reference I use a elite 220 on a 470g(over 600g total volume) with filter rollers that houses a lot of large fish that are fed 3+ times daily and it meets the needs of that system.
