RO Elite 220INT Air Intake Issues

Sorry, for some reasons I am not getting notification when someone posts in this forum. Saltcreep in the venturi is common especially during the winter months when the home environment air is dryer. Some users pour RODI water down the airline several times a week to keep the creep from forming. I have modified my skimmer so that the water for my ATO enters the venturi. It stays clean as a whistle now and is much appreciated at this time of the year.

Yep, that is what I ended up doing. I was having to pour warm ro/di down the venturi a few times a week. Then I just moved my ato line to where it flows into the venturi line.

While I would agree with some of this I am not fully convinced this is a "Winter" problem. My skimmer is in a fish room that is not dry by any means, I would actually consider it humid. Also this problem started before winter.

Another problem with your "Fix" and the one I received from my problem ticket I submitted to RO is that I cannot add my ATO water to the skimmer venturi since the ATO is fed via gravity to a float valve in the sump.

I did end up building my own venturi using some parts I had laying around a month ago and it hasn't plugged up once since being installed. I did use a slightly larger air intake piece since its what I had laying around but other than that it works the same as the RO design. I took it apart last week while I was home and inspected it to see if there was any buildup starting since I couldn't get three days out of the RO one and I was very surprised to see absolutely no buildup in the venturi I built. I guess I will just stick with the one I built since my skimmer is working great right now.

For me it definitely seems like a winter problem. I have had this skimmer set up for 9 months or so, and the problem started in November for the first time.
