Hello,

Ran my newly bought Reef Octopus Elite 220int for almost a week.

Skimmer was nicely constructed and pump ran quiet. Had a little issue with the skimmer overflowing initially with the outlet wide open and pump at the smallest setting. This was due to my sump water level around 12" . Elevated the skimmer to around 9" of water level and all was good.

However, after 1 week i am still getting a ton of microbubbles going up my display tank just as it was first set up. As my sump tank does not have much baffles, all i can do is the stuff some sponge near the inlet of my return pump and also the outlet of the skimmer.

Tried the search button but not much users of 220int posted any information regarding microbubbles.

Anyone has any suggestion on what i should do or if there is anything i may have done wrongly.

Just wait, until you get a good biofilm built up it will get microbubbles. Even my old 220-int did it after bleach and muriatic acid, cleaned it so well took 2 weeks to get rid of them.

If you haven't started adding food etc... And cycling it, start, it will help the skimmer.

Glad you posted something, I’m having similar problems with a 200int, I seem to have a stream of micro bubbles leaking from the gray washer that connects the pump outlet to the main skimmer tower. With little to no baffles they are all over my tank.

It’s been running for a month and putting out some good sludge but it seems like the more I try to mess with it the worse the bubbles gets.

Yours doesn’t seem to be leaking like mine though.

I think you may have forgotten to put the rubber washer into the grey female swivel connecting the pump to the skimmer body?
For my skimmer, microbubbles are all from the skimmer water outlet.

Did you have any micro bubble coming out of the skimmer water outlet when you just installed the skimmer?

Yeah, that o ring is important I guess, mine was only coming through the Regular outlet. Every time I clean I'm paranoid of losing it! I'd call their support as they're usually very good. Which is exactly why I use the their skimmers.

I have the 220int skimmer and have no issues with micro bubbles. I do have a dedicated skimmer department with baffles so if i ever got any they would be taken care of. That being said...i do remember when dialing it in that when i had it too deep in water and the red tube not opened enough i would see allot of bubbles coming out the outlet

Do you know what height you have your sump water level at?

Hope you found your answer. I think mine is around 9 inches. i will have to check
