Hi , made a bonehead mistake rushing around!! I ran HW through my RO filter for a couple of hrs!! So my question is did I ruin my membrane and cartridges? It’s a Spectrapure 90 gpd . I flushed it with cold water once I realized it. Thanks for your help

I know hot water will ruin the membrane quickly, but I don't think it effects pre filters. But if the membrane was bad the di will also be depleted.
What is your tds after the membrane when you turned the cold water back on?

Membrane can't take temperatures over 120F.

Hi need a new TDS meter. More money! Ugh my wife is going to kill me!! Lol. So do you think I have to replace all 3 stages besides the membrane which I am going to replace? Thanks

Run and test TDS before making any changes.
Out of membrane should reduce source TDS by 95-99%.
If it’s not doing that, membrane has been compromised.
So if your source is 100, your out of membrane should be 1-5ppm. DI stage can easily mop up the final 1-5ppm.

Only to a certain temp, after that your damaging your membrane.

Plus hot water tanks are typically full of sediment and that extra sediment is going to decrease your life on other pre-filters.

Warm water increases the production rate of a membrane but hot water if too hot will instantly damage the membrane. Not trying to argue but just saying heat helps is completely misleading.

Your sediment and carbon will be fine to continue to use. Depending on the water temp the membrane may need replaced. TDS meter will tell you what needs replaced.

The production of peremate goes up with temperature but the rejection rate goes down.
