RO Flush Valve added - How long to flush?

??? I'm not drinking my waste water?

My RODI system has a separate line built in that continually sends the waste water into my drain piping. Until my reservoir is full.

Does every RODI unit not have that?

I've got a black line taking the water in, yellow line sending it to the reservoir, and a red line sending the waste water to my drain pipes.

Why would I drink the waste water from an RODI unit XD?

Im saying when I run my unit, I'll turn it on, fill up 3-4 gallons of my drinking water, then once it's been running for awhile and the reservoir's almost empty I'll then check the TDS (which is always 0 by then) and then use it for my fish water.

When I first turn it on, even if it's coming from the reservoir i always get 3-4 TDS. Doesn't bother my stomach....

My tap is 450tds, l love it. Lots of minerals to build a healthy body. Wife hates the taste and smell.

He thought you were talking about flushing the membrane, which means sending all the water down the waste line.
So with the talk about rejection rate on a membrane...what do you folks have for your TDS input out of the membrane, thus into the DI?

145 coming in 2-3 coming out with 2 membranes in watersaver setup so that's 2-3 tds after its combined going into the di.

Mine runs about 7 tds out of the membrane with about 450 in.

Mine runs between 3 and 4 out with around 450 in. I'm running a 99%+ Spectrapure membrane. I've talked to people that are still getting 99% rejection from their Spectrapure membrane after 5 years of use. Mine is going on 3 years of use. I also run a .2 micron sediment filter and 2 .5 micron carbon filters before the membrane. The 2 carbon filters are overkill but I know I'm lazy and will not change the filters on time so this helps protect the membrane a lot longer from chlorine.

For me 2 mins is enough but I only have 70-90 TDS coming in. I have a TDS meter after the RO and before the DI and it usually starts around 35 TDS and then drops close to 1 after about 90 secs.

How long you need probably depends on your water conditions. A TDS meter after the RO will help you figure out how long is enough.
