I bought a unit used and it's time to replace the membrane. According to the seller this unit is a 25 gpd unit. 3 hours it makes 6 gallons so that is 50 gpd.
I opened it up and the label says its a 100 gpd unit. So I have know idea what I have. The restrictor says 450 on it and I don't know what that means. Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

A quick Google search confirms it's a 100GPD membrane...

I'm a little unsure about the 450 restrictor, seems low for the size of membrane. Do you know what you have for water PSI going into It?

Also if you're looking to replace it I would go with a spectrapure 90GPD Membrane myself. BRS has some really good ones as well but I like the 99% rejection rate of the spectra pures.

The 450 is ml per minute. That size is rather small for a 100 gpd membrane. I would buy a 100 gpd membrane and replace the restrictor to match. Here's a chart to show the ml/minute to gpd...

I grabbed BRS' flow restrictor chart and there's a little variation between the two, interesting....

FWIW I use spectrapure select plus 90gpd ro membrane and it has lasted me a very long time. It's been in place for well over a year and still provides 99% rejection. They do cost a bit more up front, but save a little on di resin if you plan to use that as well.

Same one I have, 2+ years and it's still performing like day 1

I have been running Spectrapure 90gpd membranes for many years now. I can confirm their top teir quality, best membranes on the market ime. I have found at least in my case that the lower priced batch tested membrane is just as effective as the individually tested premium membrane. I have gotten 98-99% rejection with either membrane so I save money and get the cheaper membrane now. My unit is an older Spectrapure and was tuned to local water buy Spectrapure. I am lucky enough to be 20 minutes from Spectrapure.
