I thought I remembered reading somewhere that using an RODI system post water softener actually improves performance. Is it okay to use after a water softener can anyone comment? @AZDesertRat

Thanks,
Tim

I can't comment on improved performance, but I know my well water comes out with a high alkalinity no matter what I use. Everyone I've talked to says the only way to take care of that is adding a water softener. I've been using Instant Ocean fish salt and the alkalinity comes out at 11dkh. If I use a reef salt it's north of 14dkh. Needless to say if I want to use better salt I'll be investing in a softener.

It would be interesting to compare this with other sources of RODI water. I know Instant Ocean Alkalinity can be all over the map...

I use a softener it greatly extends the life of the filters in the ro unit .
