Hi Everyone, I am looking at doing something cheap to filter out particles in my saltwater tank.

Just want to know if anyone has tried using a RO pump to pump water from their tank through a filter membrane and back to the tank. I'm asking because I am not sure if the components inside the RO pump will rust and cause issue later down the road.

Is this a option, I mean the RO pumps are not made to run 24/7 I think, so not sure if this is a good idea?

If you are looking for a external particle filter, I would think a canister filter would work best and is made to filter saltwater.
RO membranes and pumps are meant for freshwater

Ive seen guys run there salt through a sediment filter. IDK why they did this but they did. A cheap sicce pump would work.
Yeah I just saw a thread where a guy setup a cleaning station with a pump, sediment filter for sucking detritus, with a gravel vac.

Going old school on this. I had done maintenance for clients while in college and made a service cart. I had a cool setup for UV and water polishing with an ocean clear canister. Looks like they dont make them anymore I would look into this as it is almost identical.
