I received from BRS today what SHOULD have been the very last thing I needed before I can start filtering water and mixing salt to fill the new tank... but I'm frustrated to discover this isn't what I needed. Hoping someone here can help.

I bought this:

https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-ez-faucet-adapter.html

with plans to just connect it inline on the water supply to my bathroom sink. I don't know what size the supply fitting to the sink is, but since BRS is selling this expressly for that purpose, I thought it would fit a "standard" fitting size (the fittings and supply lines under my sink are the same size as any others that I have ever seen). Unfortunately, the 1/2" thread size is way too large to attach to the water supply. Can anyone tell me what I most likely need, and where I can get it? I'm deeply frustrated because this is holding up the whole project and I can't find what I'm after.

I ran into this same issue, the shut off valve thread was to small. It might be hard to do, but look up where the stainless steel braided line attaches to your actual faucet. That should be 1/2 inch thread. I installed mine there.

Yeah, I just spent the last 15 minutes trying that. The fitting at that end is really hard to reach and I can't get it to break loose. I'm getting really frustrated at this point and I'm about ready to just give up the whole project.

Do you know the size of the fitting on the bottom? 3/8 or 1/4?

I don't. If I had to guess, from looking at it, I'd say 3/8".

However, I was finally able to break loose the fitting at the faucet end and I now have the adapter installed inline between the supply line and the faucet, with a ball valve that will lead to the RO unit. Success! I just hope I don't wind up chasing leaks forever...

Awesome! That's the exact same way I have mine setup. No issues thus far (2 years later ;) )

One final question - I'm not sure where to lead the waste line from the RO canister. Would it be stupid to drill a 1/4" hole in the sink drain line and stick the waste line directly in there?

yes, they make special brackets just for this. Brs sends one out with every unit they sell https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/drain-saddle-clamp-1-4-push-connect.html. you could probably rig something up so you dont need to buy this but i highly suggest you make sure it's impossible for the line to inadvertently be removed. I'll know for sure if I dont need it tomorrow but I likely have an extra I'll never use. I wouldn't mind sending it to you if you just pay postage.

Deal! Let me know what you decide and if you aren't going to use it, I can PayPal you a few bucks for postage, no problem.

Yup, that's what I did. You can get special fittings like the one linked above so you can still use your sink drain without it leaking. Temporarily you can push the line into the pipe with plumber's puddy if you need to :)
