Do you think that ro storage containers need to be cleaned? After continued use do they get dirty? If so how would be the best safest method to clean them?

Vinegar and water to clean it out with. Continued use, I haven't cleaned mine out since adding RO water to it.

If it was a molded product, I'd first clean it with vinegar and water. Otherwise, I "clean" my water storage jugs every time I use them....fill them up with clean RO/DI water and dump them out into my salt mixing Brute. FYI, I collect RO/DI water in five gallon water jugs (originally used for drinking water).

Any container with an open top will eventually need to be cleaned. I also use vinegar and water. If it is closed tops will keep airborn stuff from the water in most cases and would need less frequent cleaning.

Our tanks are not sterile lab grade test tubes. So what of a little dust makes its way into your water? As long as you don't live in Chernobyl I think you would be fine.

the reason I asked this Is because a friend of mine sells ro water and one of his customers complained about the taste of his water after a refill and he asked him when he had last cleaned his jugs and he said he has never cleaned them. After cleaning them his water was good to go. So that made me thinking maybe we need to clean ours to keep all the nasty's out before adding to our tanks.

RO only or RO/DI?
RO will still have some level of TDS and should be cleaned periodically.
I have been using the same 23 gallon ATO container for my RO/DI for over 6.5 years. It has been totally drained and cleaned exactly one time in 6.5 years and the TDS out is still 0 so I don't think it requires any cleaning again yet.
