just wont to ask if my RO unit a D-D 2 stage is ok for reef tank? and it was working ok but could only get my TDS down to around 4ppm!
iv just added a 3 chamber di resin unit for after water goes through the ro unit"

problem is that I have to close the tap more on the waste pipe" to push more water through unit because there was not enough water (if any) coming out the good pipe"" this has made my tds go up to 22.5 ppm

whot should I do about this

You probable need a new ro membrane. It won’t work correctly if you slow down the waste. Make sure no kinks etc. I recently had a similar problem. Bought a new unit. Ps are you sure that your water pressure going into the system is correct

its a newish membrane at only around 5 months old" don't know about the mains pressure (can you buy something to measure ? iv got a new D-D pressure pump that iv never used" would this work put before the ro unit ?

Sorry. I don’t know what a dd Pump is. Bulk reef supply sells a pressure monitor. Something is odd if your getting waste water but no product water

If there's a flush valve on the membrane, is it open or closed?

this mate" a booster pump! im in the uk so BRS don't ship

I’m sure you can find a pressure gauge like it on amazon etc. did you have your valve closed or ope

It looks like that valve is being used to control the waste water. It should be in parallel with a flow restrictor, and that valve should be closed to apply backpressure to the membrane.

I can't quite follow your lines in that picture. This video may help. That valve should be closed. It probably has the flow restrictor built in.

Another thing, but it could just be the picture. The three cartridges on the left all look white to me. Are they actually filled with resin? They look either empty, or like new clean sediment filters. Three resin cartridges is way overkill, but if that's what they really are, it shouldn't let any TDS through at all, even if the membrane were dead. I wonder if you actually have what you think you have there.

thanks for the brs video" love those guys! I had my flush/waste control valve slightly open so waste water was getting mixed" iv closed know to see if helps my TDS " Iv almost no water coming out know though!

There is a plastic tube inside each one of those di chambers and brown/gold di resin in the tube mate" not loose in chambers bud

this is my valve buddy!

That valve should be totally closed (if its the valve I'm thinking of - its only used to 'flush' periodically the membrane - thats why you weren't getting output water.

Secondly - I agree with @W1ngz that the 3 cartridges (if they are clear) - don't look like that they have resin in the cartridges

Iv almost no water coming out know though

I guess that comes down to percentage. It’s normal to get several times more reject water than clean water from the membrane. It also depends what number of L /day the membrane is rated. If the TDS out of the membrane is under 5 you’re in good shape.

thanks mate" iv shut that valve know" don't know how much water its going to give me though!

this is the di resin unit I got

Curious - what is the 'rated' liters/gallons whatever per day of the unit you have?
Are you sure your plumbing is put together correctly?
Is the temperature of the source water especially cold (that will also decrease yield)?

The TDS of the water out of that system (assuming everything is good) - should be zero at the end.

Is there a carbon section in that set up?
