Hi I have 125, getting tired of lugging water from the store.

thinking 75GPD

I see 3, 4 and 5 stages, with and without DI

I also see prices all over the place

How many stages do I really need?

What is popular?

Is a DI add on worth it?

What about brands, aren't they really all the same.

Welcome to R2R! How many stages you get is going to greatly depend on your source water. If you have really dirty water and your city used chlorine and chloramines and other detergents you're going to want to go with a 5 or 6 stage unit with DI. Check your citys website for a water quality report.
I really like the bulk reef supply units.

I know there's no chloramines

How long does the DI typically last?

DI typically lasts anywhere from 2 to 6 months, all depends on how many TDS you have going into it from your ro membrane performance.

I personally went with a stage 5 with DI and TDS meter from BRS 75 gpd. Have never been happier no lore lugging 5 gallon jugs from store. My city water uses chlorine and the 5 stage is probably little overkill. Live in Oregon and have awesome city water quality to begin with. Dustin

that place is not cheap!

What I have bought from them has been reasonable and there customer service is excellent. They even help people trouble shoot systems that are not theirs.

I use a SpectraPure 90-GPD 4 stage. My tap is around 100 TDS. This knocks it to zero. To save money I buy replacement filters off Amazon. I can't recall brand name but I go by reviews. They're like 70% cheaper than going for the name brand stuff.

My cities water uses chloramins, I bought the 6 stage BRS RODI Unit, for a couple extra bucks it was worth it going from the 5 stage to a 6 stage. I also bought the 150 gallon water saver, my ratio was been about 1:1. I would definitely recommend getting the DI stage for your aquarium.

These are the brands you want to go with. Spectrapure, Melevs Reef, BRS and Buckeye. Any one of these are great units, know about rodi, water quality and great custo er service. Which unit you go with is based on your source water quality. Contact the company you choose to purchase from and talk with them to figure out what model they offer would be best for your needs.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
