Hi, I have a 150 gpd RO unit that I use for my two aquariums and the waste water is wasted, could it be used to top off my 3000 gallon Koi pond?

i dont see why not. The waste water is way cleaner than what you are getting from the tap. If you are concerned about it add another ro membrane and run your waste to it your waste will go down and your output will go up. I water my plants with the waste water. Koi are very hardy and as long as the water is clean they will do just fine.

I would say you could and myself I tried it only problem I had was the waste water ph changed and didn't think it would but just make sure you check that mine went from 8.2 down really low. i kind of been wondering that myself though. im just wondering if my waste water would hold the buffering or would it just fluctuate with fish in? I understand the rodi couldn't be used just plain but was wondering if the waste water would hold the buffering or not ? also ive seen where a lot of people say don't do it but im with you it be nice to be able get some use. would benefit me cause my freshwater fish need really a lower ph.

Assuming you were using tap water to top-off your koi pond, there would be no issue using RO waste water to do the same.

The only issue is the TDS will be 20-25% higher than tap water TDS, it is not cleaner than tap water other than it has had large sediment and chlorine removed, the TDS or disolved contaminants are actually higher since it now contains the TDS that was in that one good treated gallon concentrated into the 4 waste gallons.

I would water the landscape with it or send it down the drain to be recycled and used over and over. Washing machines only hold a few gallons of water so can easily overflow if you are not watching things closely, especially with a high production rate membrane.
