Hey everyone I just got my tds meter and my new filters for my RO system. I bout this system used. before the TDS was coming out around 90 I just changed the sediment filter and single carbon block. It is now reading 34. I am planning on buying a new membrane still. I am going to have to use this water for a water change hopefully it will get me by. Should I be able to read any TDS measurement in the actual aquarium itself? it must be too high because it wont even read a number. I assume this should be the case because the aquaium itself has plenty of minerals and what not. Just wondering what should I be shooting for? also needing some help with gel beads because my replacement kit came with them but the gel canister is not hooked up ATM.

With 34 tds coming out your di resin is shot too

Get a membrane and di resin.

The membrane should reject like 97-99%. The di resin is for the last bit of smallest tds, but if the membrane is putting out 34. It is surely exhausted

I am defnitely going to get a new membrane. Currently my DI resin is not hooked up tho. I need some help figuring out how to hook it up. my RO system is the 3 canister style. The first is sediment the middle is carbon block. I always thought the third canister was a carbon block also then membrane on top of system. I got this system used from a guy. the third canister is full of DI resin tho which is brown and looks exhausted. I dont know much about these systems. the third canister has a tube going through the center. is this suppose to have DI resin in it? the videos I have seen people have a reusable canister they pack full of resin then insert it into the other canister.

Yeah you need to replace the membrane and di as well. Whats your water scource tds? You should be shooting for 90% rejection rate, so 90% of the source tds being removed. For example if you have 100 ppm tds source water at 90% rejection you should get 10 ppm tds after the membrane. After DI you shouldmbe seeing 0 ppm any higher and its time for new resin. Hook up the DI to the clean water coming out of the membrane, water flowers from the bottom and up through the resin and out.
