Hello all,

My 55 gallon R.O. water storage began to leak, I transferred the good R.O. to a spare barrel that had been cleaned. I put a lit on it so any dust wouldn't get into the barrel while I repaired the leak on the 1st barrel. Took off the lid on the 2nd barrel and noticed a very faint musty odor. I then poured 1/2 quart of Low Splash Bleach into the container to disinfect it and plan on using Safe to remove the chlorine. Didn't realize the bleach was low splash. Should I dump the water or will it be OK to use after Safe?

Thanks

In all honesty I’d get a new storage barrel just for the piece of mind and to avoid another leak

The barrel is fixed and fine. Just want to know if the Low Splash bleach would render the water unusable or if the Seachem Safe would make the water OK to mix with salt and use.

Thanks

I’m not sure, I don’t know what they use to make it gel up . My wife picked me some up for my filter socks. I won’t take the chance.

Gonna dump it and rinse the barrel heavily. Just didn't want to waste 40 gallons of fresh R.O.D.I. water.

If you have some Prime or other Aquarium water conditioner, you could add some to the rinse to be safe.

It's the surfactant(s) that concerns me and how it may tend to linger on the surfaces.

I have a bunch of Potassium Permanganate powder I could dump in it before I dump it if that would get rid of the surfactants. I use Seachem Safe for dechlorinator.

Is there anything I can use to cut the surfactants from the sides of the barrel or just rinse and scrub and rinse, rinse and rinse again?
