Well... I went and got all my seams all caulked in inside the stand. Got to do a little more prep inside and get it ready for the first coat of gray paint on the inside. Then epoxy with the speckled paint chips. Black, gray, and white like these.

I actually have the stand sitting upside down right now. I will be covering the entire inside of the stand with the chips. But I have to do a panel, then flip the stand. Do another panel, then flip the stand again. Can't wait to see what it is going to look like.

I hope so! I'm going to do a heavy flake pattern in there. Should be plenty durable and hold up to the elements in there.

So I got up this morning and prepped the inside of the stand a little more. I got the first coat of the gray base on. The next coat will get the chips scattered across it then it will all be high gloss clear coated epoxy. I did a little sample on a scrap piece of wood to show you guys what I'm going for inside the entire wall unit. I think it will be cool. Plus all the wood will be completely sealed with no chance of water or salt damage. Should make it last quite a long time.

Well I got the entire back of the inside of the stand covered with the chips. Now I have to wait for that to dry completely. Then sweep up the excess chips, flip the stand and coat another portion of the inside. This will probably be a week long process. One side a day.

Can't wait to get some more done tomorrow when I get home from work. I just went out to the garage to see how everything was drying. Looking good and laying down nicely!

Yes, I will be spraying the outside of the stand, side cabinet, and upper canopy piece. It will all be sprayed with Benjamin Moore Advance waterborne-alkyd like the rest of the interior trim and doors that I've done in my house. The name of the color is called wedding veil white. (Wife's choice) lol. This is the white that I'm using. Same as the built-ins here that I made in our master closet that I finished not too long ago.

The inside of the cabinet is just the rustoleum garage floor chips over a gray oil based garage floor paint then high gloss 2 part epoxy clear.

Looks great man! Probably the first I’ve ever seen. So much attention to details.

A sump does fit right? Seems narrow thru that one opening, or will the stand not house a sump?

The sump slides through the end and is 5 feet long. The opening actually leaves me about 1" on each side. The overall length inside the cabinet is about 82 inches so still leaves me room for some stuff. What's nice is I have about 34-36" of height inside for skimmers and stuff.

I'm glad to hear that what I am doing inspires others. I like being able to pass ideas or knowledge of things. I'm always willing to learn from others as well. Fortunately for me, I have had the honor of growing up with a family full of people that were pretty mechanically inclined. I've learned lots of things over the years and was able to absorb an retain what I was taught.

I'm a Stars fan, so this series is painful for me....do I root for the team that knocked us out in game 7 OT, or do I root for the Bruins....I dunno, but I still enjoy good hockey!

That stand is turning out great. Solid pine wrapped in 3/4" plywood, that thing is built like a tank. Not to mention that the finish looks like it'll be flawless. Following this build. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle making the tank yourself.

Thank you. It certainly needs to be. Theres going to be a lot of weight sitting on it. Let me tell you, it is heavy!
