What should i do to have it back the way it was

With too much reef riods you can create a algae bloom overnight.
I guess what I see is a diatom bloom.
Purple up is a calcium product that will help promote coraline algae which is purple and gives your rock a natural look.
That will take a while before that happens.
Your friend didn’t tell you about how much to dose if you wanna use this as the result you put in too much as why this diatom.
But rest assured don’t freak out and make changes it will go away over time and stop dosing this stuff but read up on it before do so.

Okso should i do a big water change today?

As @Brew12 mentioned let it sail for now.
What I do advice is get yourself some test kits, Red Sea or salifert

It is diatoms, often associated with new tank setup, and or too much organics caused by low water flow, feeding and phosphates above norms. I would as Diesel suggested begin testing tank parameters and adjust according to test results.
