Tank just finished cycling. I haven't run lights at all since setting it up. Looked in there tonight and noticed all the epoxy turned a bright pink as well as spots on my rock. Rock is all dry rock from Marcorocks.
Salinity:1.025

Nitrate:5

Any ideas???

I'd say it's probably either Cyanobacteria or coralline algae but I doubt it's coraline cuz it usually doesn't grow very fast, especially in new tanks

I know this is an old thread, but I couldn't find much on this. I have this happening in one of my freshwater aquariums.

I have a stainless steel mesh bordered with holdfast to prevent sharp edges. The parts of the holdfast that are out of the water remain white but the parts where the water has touched have turned pink. Since mine is freshwater I seriously doubt its coralline algae and its the wrong color for Cyanobacteria. I'm at a loss to what' caused it. This tube of hold fast went into two aquariums and one stayed white the other pink. Parameter wise they are no different.
