Rock bonding with coral gum

First time sticking the rocks together. I am mostly a stacker until now. From the directions on the coral gum it seems to indicate you have to let it cure in water, but not, ideally, in the display tank. How do you generally do this? If some dissolves with rubbing as you reposition, has it affected your tank?

Do you have a preferred method other than coral gum?

I use rods sometimes. Jurassic gel and the accelerator brs has is what I mostly use.
