Sorry I couldn’t comment on my recent post... my account is still getting confirmed and I can’t comment but I have another question. When I soak the dry rock in water prior to putting it in the tank, does it have to be saltwater? Or can I use water from the shower? I will declorinate it using prime either way. Sorry for posting twice today :( thanks for all of your guys’ responses though I really appreciate it!

You don't have to be sorry for posting twice ;Hilarious I wouldn't suggest using tap water for anything reef related, too may potential contaminants. You can go to walmart or whatever and buy some distilled water for cheap, doesn't have to be salt, but you really don't want to be using tap water in general even if it's treated.

I soaked pukani in tap water for about 4 months. My tds comes from the tap about 550. Well water. I changed the water often until I was seeing zero nitrate and phosphate. Then i gave it another 2 months soak in ro water, changing often.
