Rock falling and breaking glass

Does anyone have concern of a rock falling and cracking bottom panel or any panel of aquarium?

My rock work is sturdy but I have an eel that occasionally bumps rocks out of place, what is the likely hood of a rock breaking bottom panel? For arguments sake let’s do BB tank, I do have sand but said eel makes large areas where there is no longer sand.

Never known it to happen. I'm more worried about rock falling and damaging corals or fish. I often will drill rock and pin it together with rods or CPVC pipe.

When I removed the sand from my 210g with about 200lbs of rock, I had a rock slide. I mean my heart stopped, 200lbs of rocks crashing down. I'm not sure how long I fretted that one day I would I start seeing a leak, it's been 10 years now. I don't think I've ever heard of it happening.

Some people put a covering on the bottom of the tank to protect from rock falls. I think the stuff is called starboard. If your rock work is well set out, you should not have a problem with rock falls. There are a number of tricks you can use to stabilize the rock work.

I am in process of setting up another tank and found these that I bought to put on bottom of tank. I’m sure they will help but not make it bullet proof

Ya I was thinking about removing the rocks and putting egg crate down, I’m thinking I could wiggle it into the sand bed. I can’t do abs sheets without removing the sand


The rock work is stable but the eel moves rocks at will when trying to swim around ROck work.

I glue my rock structure together so they can not fall iv never had 1 fall as in tumble down and break anything but

I have seen a friend put to much weight on a small support and Crack the bottom glass

And iv personally drioed a large rock from a few inches up full of water and blew out the bottom of a tank before so mabey

A friend's wife also threw a beer can threw his tank but we arnt talking about that lol
