I am intrested in creating an anemone carpet. I do not know which anemone I should use though. What are the differences between these anemones? Size, shape, easy of care, color, tendency to move, sexy shrimp hosting ability ect.

Thanks and happy Reefing

Rock nem are about 2" they have nice patern. Carpet nem can get really big, clownfish might host it also. They dont have bright color compare to rock nem though

Really the carpet maxi minis don’t get that big and have more color options. Though I’ve never seen one pop as much as my rock flowers.

one thing to keep in mind is Rock flowers will reproduce. I’m not sure maxi Minis do

If they are both small, which one is bigger? What about care? Does one require more light than the other?

Thanks and happy Reefing

I'm gonna have to disagree on the size and colorfulness of RFA's. I have two that are over 6" across and are very colorful.

And an idea of the diversity of RFA's available

I've heard carpet nems are more likely to eat fish, and for that reason I've avoided them.

I think the larger ones will for sure. I have a carpet that’s about 10in and it eats everything that touches it. My maxi minis are not as aggressive, they usually only eat the scallop or shrimp I spot feed

Rock flower anemones all day every day. Things come in so many colors and patterns it's mind boggling. Easy to keep as well.

I have both, both seem to like lower light, or at least some shade. I have only had an issue with a fish that was basically dead being munched on by a maxi mini. My sexy shrimp seem to enjoy the maxi minis. Both come on a beautiful variety of colors.

These are my minis, just taken with my cell phone. No filters or fancy-ness.
