Rock flower anemone

Hey all! Yesterday i bought a rock flower anemone.. I was told at the lfs that they dont move as much as others, well the one i bought has prettt much moved a good amount and is now wedge between the live rocks, i plan on leaving it there unitl it decides to come out but then i went to check up on it and i noticed its releasing some sort of black thread looking stuff. Not sure what it is, haven't seen anything like it... Should i be worried??

Rocks will move to find a spot and then usually stay put unless major changes to the tank/flow/parameters are made

As for the black stuff, it could be poo or zooxanthellae. I am leaning towards poo.

Just watch the nem, make sure it does not gape at the mouth and leave it be unless it does that.

Looks like a rfa settling in. Just give it some time and all should be well.

I think mine moved the first day or two and has remained in the same spot for the last 4 months.

They will find a sweet spot and usually stay. Just be careful about putting other coral around it, that's the only time mine ever move.

Just some info for ya

Feeding:

do not feed for the first couple of weeks. It will get what it needs from light and nutrients in the water. Feeding at this point will just cause undue stress and is not needed.

if you want to start feeding once it settles in, that’s fine. Just feed tiny bit of mysis, shrimp, clams or scallops. Like tiny. Think size a baby clownfish would be able to eat.

Just be aware, feeding rfa will make them grow quickly and they can get up to 5” in some cases.

I breed them and do feed mine, but again, it is not needed as long as you have good light, some po4 and nitrate available.

They do stay put once they find a spot, at least mine have. I have 4 on a single rock and I took the entire rock and moved it into a different tank and they are still there. That was a few months ago
