Hi! So I've seen all the crazy morphs of Rock Flower Nems, and it wasn't until Last Friday that one of my LFS are getting in tiny Rock flower nems (when I say tiny, I mean like 1" in size) and wanted to know if they could eat small fish / shrimp? The tank is 50g, I would only have 1, and the smallest fish is probably 4". Although the shrimp i want to have (Pederson's and Caribbean Yucatan are the smallest at an 1") would they be ok? The anemone crab i want to have would probably push them away, but does anyone have experience with Small Shrimp and Rock Flower Nems? The picture posted is the one I saw, very pretty

I have 3 of the nems in a tank. I have a couple of small fish (1-1.5 inch each) and have not had a problem. Two of the nems a 2-3 inches in size and the other is about an inch. These are my nems so I am not an expert with them;)

Thank you! I think with the Crab guarding the Nem, it should be fine. I should be ok

Rock flower nems have a really weak sting. So your inhabitants are safe

I have six rock flowers and 6 sexy shrimp that hang out on them. I don't think they're strong enough to grab a fish. Unless it's a really stupid fish that would climb into one.

Easiest tank inhabitant I’ve had so far. Seems to be happy with pretty much anything..

They rarely to ever do. I had one take in a molting shrimp otherwise they’re peaceful

Honestly the only difficult thing about rfa's is buying them at a reasonable price these days. If you see one you like at a good price, snap it up.

+1 on everything said above. I have 8 or 9 and grab one every time I can, and I own much smaller fish than you, including anthias and small wrasse. Never had an issue with rfa's.

Since the above issue was solved I’m curious if my rock nem is dying. I placed it in the tank on a shelf in the middle height of the tank.

I fed it and the next day it was folding itself and closing and essentially looking like it was in slo mo agony as it also lost all of its bright orange color. After about a week or so it finally opened a bit but now is dark brown instead of bright orange and I feed it very small food twice a week.

all other corals are doing particularly well (candy cane, lobo, Xenia, Zoas galore, acan, GSP, and Kenya tree.

I had mine eat a bicolor pygmy angel the day after I got it. It dropped a half digested fish skull turd out the next day. Also suspect it likely stun my Helfrichi Firefish.
