So I have the chance to get one of these guys and I've been wanting to for a while, but I'm nervous of it taking down a fish. Would this be a real possibility or would it be similar chances to a lps doing the same. So far I have two clowns and a midas blenny, and the clowns are about medium size. Tank is a 30 gallon. Thx for the looking!

I dont think you need to worry. They are not very aggressive and tend to stay in one place. I have 2 larger ones on my tank (4-5 inches in diameter) and my 2 wrasses spend a lot of time swimming around them. They dont bother each other at all.

It's a possibility- any anemone is able to eat a fish. That being said, I think it's pretty uncommon. I've probably read about a dozen reports of RFAs eating fish out of some conceivably very large denominator of RFAs that don't bother anyone. Generally speaking, most RFAs are pretty good about staying in place and leave their tankmates alone. Ultimately, unlikely, but possible.

Alright thank you. Would still appreciate people chiming in but I think i'll get one, at least until it gets to the size where it could eat a fish. Gonna get a really nice on for 27 bucks and will update with pics once I grab it.

Aquatic Arsenal is doing a 6 RFA for $80 deal rn for R2R members and first time buyers, so they’re $13 each. I got mine in this morning! @Brandon Smith can hook you up.

I have two small perculas 2” about and a 1” cherub angel and I’m not afraid for them with the RFAs. All the stories I’ve heard have been an RFA eats a fish that was already dead/ about to be. A healthy fish won’t have an issue escaping the RFA, the horror stories on R2R about fish-eating RFAs have mostly ended up with people realizing that their fish was already dead. IMO RFA pose no threat to a healthy fish unless it’s like 8” across and the fish is super tiny AND asleep when it’s caught, which is super unlikely. I recommend them!

I have personally never had any issues with RF anemones eating fish. I have read stories of it happening with very large specimens. I think the general consensus is, they are about as safe as you can get anemone wise. Highly unlikely you’d ever have an issue. They’re quite beautiful, easy to care for, and don’t bother other livestock/coral too much. Some of mine stay put, while others tend to roam. All that being said, I’d definitely recommend them!

dang that's a great deal. Even with out of state shipping that's only $20 a piece!

Is there a coupon code that we can use?

I don’t think so, just place your order then PM Brandon and he’ll make sure you’re taken care of. He just got a new shipment of RFA’s on thursday I believe so he’s got a frag supply! Very nice guy and is open to things like “mostly orange ones” or “a pink one please”

Thats a good deal, might have to look into that. I normally get all my nems from aqua SD(they get some beautiful stuff and pictures match about 90 percent, ill post a few stock pictures below of some ive bought), but at that price its worth to try someone elses, yours look great.

TO OP, I have 6-7 rockflowers in my tank right now, no issues, i also have another 5-6 mini maxis, and also no issues. If a fish is dying/sick, it might get caught in one because of the flow, but otherwise i doubt you'll have any issues.

@Brandon Smith How would we go about getting that deal above? Im pretty interested. Love nems LOL.

I've had one eat a banded coral shrimp right after it molted. It's a risk, but a small one.

dang! That woulda been super cool! I’ve never seen a RFA with that kind of iridescent coloration... they really look like that?
Yes the picture matches 90 percent of it. My camera doesn't do it justice, my lights are almost off right now, but here is the purple one and one of the red and blues i bought. Wish the lights were on.
Red/blue and one of the rainbows(hard to see rainbow one, the blue really pop)
