Does anyone know why it’s doing this? Haven’t moved just kinda folds the top over itself and never seems to open up all the way

Sorry, I do not have an answer for you. However, the guy I know, that in my opinion, is an RFA expert may have some answers for you. What say you, @Ron Reefman ?

Also, check out Ron's build threads and I am certain you'll learn a lot about RFAs.

Its taking a "dump" and readjusting itself to the water parameters. You only start worrying if it looks shriveled like a decaying piece of fruit

You'll get happiness and growth if you squirt some mysis into it once a week. It should immediately fold up eating the meat meal

Thanks for the shout out @crusso1993.

It's not uncommon for RFA that attach to the edge of a rock below the sand. And that's a very common place for them to go in aquariums, but not so much in the wild. As @Katrina71 said, it could be a sharp edge or even just the shape of the rock. It may grow some over time and be able to open up more as the trunk/neck gets a bit longer. If you like the spot, I'd give it more time to get established. If not, try the PVC trick (see below)

They seem to like rock walls with deep holes they can pull back into when threatened. They also like holes in rocks that are covered with sand. Even sand that is 2" to 4" deep. That way they can retract under the sand and hide.

I've found that in a PVC pipe end cap set in the sand they are very happy and almost never move. And they open up full as well.

There is a lot of RFA info in this thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/ron-reefmans-rock-flower-experience.409436/

Too much light? Mine always seem to shy away from the light and work their way to the bottom of the tank.

Do you a pic under whites-that will help us confirm whatever’s going on. Under those lights it looks super bleached and unhappy but it could just be doing weird nem things.

Colorful RFA come from deeper water (30' or more) where there is less light and they do less photosynthesis. Therefore they appreciate being fed more than other anemones.

I thought that it looks almost translucent in the photos. A better white light photo would be helpful.

Ok so he has moved to a different spot but now his mouth is wide open.... is that something I should worry about?

Depends. Mine do some weird things but bounce back after a few hours.

How long has it been in your tank?
Did it always look like this or is it a new thing?
Do you see any brown stuff coming out?
What color is it-translucent/clear or actual color (still can’t see from the picture)?

I’ve had it for

I’ve had it for 3 days now and it’s not translucent it’s white in the middle and the tentacles are actually pink. No brown stuff out of it either just a wide open mouth

Anemones in general have some strange behaviors. And it's not unusual for some of them to look stresses or strange for 2 or 3 days... maybe even longer. My best advise is, just leave it be and let it find it's happy spot.
