Picked this up from craiglist very dirty sitting in a garage for years. It was suggested to bleach them and possibly acid wash.

This is my result after 1 week of bleach soak.

My questions

Anyone know what kind of rock it is?

Does it need the acid soak?(not an issue for me to do safely)

What about all the little branches and dead Coral skeletons(last pictures). Should i keep seperate?

Thanks

Cory

If it came out of a reef tank I would move on to curing it now, if it came from a fish only tank I would go ahead with the acid wash in order to dissolve the outer layer of rock in case copper was ever used.

The person i bought it from had no info on the rocks and just wanted them gone.

It sounds like an acid wash to be safe is my best bet.

Is it ok to acid wash the small fossilized coral skeletons?

I’m a big fan of muriatic acid washing rocks then curing them. Just be careful not to cook them too long. I’d do the coral skeletons separately and just a quick bath. Too long and the acid will disintegrate them to nothing.i learned that the hard way
