im still confused as to whether its a snail or hydroids? as far as i know, if i touch it with something it seems to be soft and can move, if i look at it super closely the ends appear slightly feathered (which is what makes me believe its actually hydroids)

Not a vermetid.

I still havent gotten rid of this little rock. Just monitoring it somewhat. The paly seems to be getting a bit of growth and coloring a bit more redish. Im starting to somewhat like it, but its the hydroids that are concerning me. If i keep the rock seprated from the rest will the hydroids spread or not? I can still easily remove it, but I still feel like trying to keep it since it fits well with the connecting rock. Am I getting too attached? I'm torn over this rock and dont know what is the best way to handle it
