I plan on having a qt tank set up by the end of the week. I have extra pukani rock and I was going to seed it in my tank and pit it in the qt. I know copper and other meds can leach into the rock but is there really any reason I can't use rock, it is extra rock anyway I just assumed it would help with bacteria during the non treating times. I'm going to keep a pair of blue green chromis in the tank at all times.

You can put the rock in if your using copper provided it doesnt have lots of living things on it that will die from copper, like bristle worms, or snails. They will pollute the tank.

Id stick small chunk of it and grind it into sand to get bacteria in there to help with the ammonia cycle.

Me personally, id put in some chaeto with a light and plastic rock.

Thanks for the advice. I will do that. Also planning on using water from the dt for the qt. Unless for some reason I need to keep the salinity lower in the qt.
