Rock Nem Babies Care?

I’m doing a IM 25 lagoon build and having it predominantly nems with rock nems. i ordered 10 rock nems and upon opening one of the bags, there were over 20 babies with the mother.

Just wondering if anyone has experience raising rock nems? They are currently in a cup with cheese cloth covering them so they don’t get blown away and lost.

Did the babies take the food right away? I spot feed every 2-3 nights. Wondering if I just mix up my food powders if they will to that.

They do seem to take food pretty soon after release. I feed the offspring a mix of phyto paste (reef blend from brine shrimp direct) and golden pearl powder up to 100micron and slowly increase in size and food type.

I heard they are really slow to grow? Just wondering how long they take you to get to adults. I would think spot feeding they would get big fairly fast.

I have a buddy who orders from a diver in Florida. We will see how the babies do. If they go well, I’ll probably get a small tank and do all rock nems. Then let them propagate and raise them that way.

That size would be perfect. If I do it I’ll probably plumb it into my existing system and have it set up so the return pump kicks off when the lights go off. Just have a powerhead in there for when they spawn so you will have better odds.

Thats awesome, I have about 20 rock nems for last 6 months or so, Ive had 4 babies so far, they do take awhile to get big but i only spot feedike once a week.
