i have a 40 gallon breeder. I took my LFS word for it that my gold stripped chromis was wasn’t aggressive.

It’s aggressive and I have to get him out. I’m trying some “tricks” with the net but I think I’ll have to remove most of the rock.

Anyways, I have several corals in the tank. If I take the rocks out for a short period of time and try to minimize any “sand shifting” do you think I will have any small spikes in anything?

I have seen a few posts where some people made fish traps from a plastic bottle, bought a fish trap or placed food in the net. If you search fish traps you might find something. At least you won't be stuck removing rocks if it works.

Unfortunately I did try that. I’ve been successful with a trap in the past, but this fish doesn’t seem too interested.

I'm not sure if it will cause a cycle, we had to pull all of ours out to catch a damsel. What a terror! We didn't have any issues not to say you won't. Let's try to get someone in with allot more experience to help you out.

Flippers is in the house, your in good hands now.

Try taking the rock out into a tub of saltwater to minimize the exposure to air long term. It's the long term exposure to air that will kill off the bacteria colonies on the rock. Just keep it wet.

Aquamedic Fish Trap. Caught 2 coral nipping dwarf angels within 24 hours. Totally worth it....

I will definitely have all live stock, including rock, submerged in saltwater water during the process.

I guess I was worried about the sand getting stirred up but I’m probably overthinking it.

Yeah not a worry, in fact if the tank has been running a while and the sand is getting dirty, this is a great opportunity to get it clean. I would at least do a really good job of vacuuming it if not a complete rinse out. Have plenty of new mixed saltwater ready to replace whatever is lost.

Fish trap !! That's how I caught mine Easily
