Ok so I got some live rock from a guy about a month or so ago and ive had it in my shed with a power head and salt water to keep it. However in the past week at some point the seam split on the container I was using. (A salt tank for water softners) I was busy this week and didnt have time to check on it now my rock is dry bone dry. So no where do I go from here? I threw it back in some salt water but I think everyrhings already dead. The water has started to stink. Do I just bleach it and cure as I would dry rock?

You could drop in some peroxide befor the next water change and clean it up a bit.

But basically, it’s just cycling again
In a couple weeks is won’t stink.

Just sucks as it was pretty nice rock will the peroxide just help clean some of the organics?
Yup. Exactly. Both bleach and peroxide are oxidizers.

On the bright side , it’s still nice rock. Just not cooked to your standards.

I would just leave it in saltwater and let it recure. Very possible ther is some life left still and bacteria within the rock. If you bleach it it will for sure kill anything left. Keep in mind most live rock used to be shipped on container ships dry, sitting for weeks and there would still be life left.
