I know the old rule was 1 lb of rock for every gallon. But just curious what the numbers are more like now.

I'm just planning out a 180 gal. I would like to just use 60 lbs of rock. I prefer minimalist scapes of course with enough hiding for the fish.

Just curious is that is enough rocks... (I currently have about 15/20 Ibs in my 25)

Thanks!

Rock is the main process for the nitrogen cycle. You could use marine pro in the sump for that. less rock in dt

I have a 180 waterbox decently stocked, 140lb live rock and 100lb sand. Params are great!

It’s all gonna depend on how many fish and which fish you’re raising. Overstocked will require more LR or extra porous rock in sump

This or u can add/place more LR in the sump instead of DT.

Yes I'm likely going to put some extra rock in the sump maybe 20 or 30 Ibs and increase my DT to 80/100 Ibs

Thanks for the input :)

I think I am going for moderately stocked not that many big fish or high bio load fish.

Just took a look and your build thread and saw you have an earmuff wrasse, how is that fish going? I am very interested in getting one it's probably the biggest lock on my list for wants.

He's doing fantastic. Definitely a recommended purchase! Great color and likes swimming around the tank. Will even get in with the tangs and angels and grab some bites of seaweed off the algae clip.

I put as much rock in as I want. I try to use as much as possible without making it look like I poured rock in.
