Hey All

So took down my 145 gallon system. Took all the rock out and it has been sitting outside in the sun, rain, etc for the last 7 days or so. I did nothing to it ... it has just been sitting there.

I am planning on using it again here and "re" curing it. I am aware of all the different things to do to "clean" it, I am just wondering which one I should use, IF ANY?

Should I soak it in some bleach water for a few days, or just make up a new batch of saltwater, throw a light over it and start the process that way with the occasional water change, etc.

Look forward to your thoughts...

Yea... what @ReeferReefer said. I’m curious as to why you didn’t keep it wet to start with.
At one point it had some nasty Dino in the tank (I got rid of the dino though and fixed that problem), and also had some nasty nuclear green palys on them and I FOR SURE wanted those off of there ... so was just basically going for a fresh start with the rock

Well, if the rock has been outside for a week or so, most likely everything on the rocks is now dead.

Personally, I would just rinse the rock well with some clean freshwater, and huck it back into some salt! But, if you're really worried about something lurking deep inside the rocks, or the rocks are still super dirty, then you could do a bleach bath. Only issue there is waiting (again) for the rocks to completely dry out to make sure all the bleach has evaporated.

You could also do Hydrogen Peroxide. Much cleaner to use than bleach. Only problem is it can't be diluted with water since water neutralized the peroxide. But, I like that because then I can just rinse whatever I just cleaned in peroxide with water and it's usually okay. Of course, that would take a lot of peroxide though.

Hope this helps!

Yah this is what I think I am going to do ... away it goes into some new salt water and start the process....
