Today I purchased rock from someone who took down his tank it is sitting in a bucket for a couple of week what should I do before I put it in a new tank?

So, it has been dry, so beneficial bacteria is gone. What “I” would do (I know many will say bleach etc) would be to put it in a brute, fill with water (rodi or sea-water) and put a powerhead in it. If nasty stuff grows, then you will want to basically make them sterile/dry rocks and start from scratch, but of the tank they came from was in good working order, letting the dead organics fall off in a brute with water for awhile should make them safe to drop right into a tank
 
Congratulations on the new rock! I encourage you to search the terms “cure” and “cycle” rock both here on R2R and on the BRS YouTube channel. There are several approaches and this will help you make an informed decision. Good luck!
 
If you plan on doing a rockscape that involves drilling, cementing, gluing, etc... now would be a good time. Then they can go back into your cure ready to drop into tank after cure is done.
