So I like my rock work kinda. But it seems like its hard to add corals since there's not much flat surface area. Should I redesign before I have to many corals. Right now I have a huge Kenya tree , hammer coral, green start polyps , 2 different zoanthids in different places. And some possibly one more type of zoanthid but with long almost eyelashes looking things Lol. Anyway anyone have ideas or what to do or even if you like it or improvements !! Thanks all

I would just be careful adding dry rock or any rock. You can start a mini cycle. That said I would try to use some other rock to build ledges for space or use the sand. Check out some other shapes to get ideas

Hmm I will definitely try and use the rock in there. Just was difficult when I tried lol. Any tips on making shelves or ledges lol

Hard to tell what you have looks like it is standing on end. Most of the time I try to look at how to make bridges setting flattest sides up. Be mindful of stability falling rocks can cause major issues

Okay that helps me and gets me on track. I will just use what I have and see how it goes and even though I like a higher up reef I will consider leaving swimming space towards upper middle and have a lower reef. Lighting is no issue as my light is overly sufficient for any corals I will have thanks!

You can add more dry rock, just do it one piece at a time. Wait 2-3 weeks before adding another piece.

I like your scape - I think it really is a personal thing - the important question is, do YOU like it? if you do, then keep it! Is it secured? would be my only question......another thing to keep in mind is that many of us continue to tinker with our scapes over time so what you have now, may not be what it looks like in a few weeks or months :)

Look for nice pieces of liverock @ your LFS, the guys @ my LFS dug thru alot of LR for me to find nice ledge rockwork. Just made sure the rockwork is sturdy!

I agree if you like it that's what matters mostly. That said ledges do add shaded area for lower light corals and place higher for sps n lower ones for lps zoas ect in ours it's all glued so basically we have 2 rocks but it gives lots of tiers of spots for corals of different needs and allows swimming area for fish. Here's pic of ours to show the different spots for corals it's a new setup so need to stock it yet.

You can add more dry rock or you could rearrange the rock you currently have. You could also always buy some frag racks to put in there for a little extra space.

Wow thanks for all the help!!! I am going to make maybe two separate ledges in each corner then a small middle island or something. I'm gonna get 1-2 pieces of live rock Saturday after I finish changing it today and decided if I need more. Hopefully it all works out! Will keep everyone updated!! Also how long can I leave rock out of water while redesigning the scape before good bacteria and etc die off????

If you keep it wet and warm, it could go for a day with no real worry. You could wrap it in damp newspaper or cloth

Lol in that case you have nothing to worry about. Just be careful when you rearrange your rock you could kick up a lot of that that could release trapped detritus, which could cause some problems.

just run some carbon and your skimmer a little wet when you move stuff to help keep issues minimal. can not wait to see the new scape

Final product as of now. I like it a lot better. But there were some challenges. My peppermint shrimp attacked my finger during the process haha. And my power head took a turn for the worse . so I'll have to return my aqueon nano get a new one. And also buy another powehead since I seem to need one now! I have the broken aqueon in their now just the part you screw in is broken so it kinda just hangs there but until tmrw it will be fine! So what you guys think???
