I recently purchased an RODI from my LFS which is a DR.G brand 5-Stage. I have been running it for the past 8 hours and my TDS reads zero, however, when I tested the ALK with my Salifert kit it only took one drop to change from blue to pink. Any idea on what might be going on?

Wonder what it reads with salt mixed. Mix a small batch and see what your reading is. Ive never tested alk before mixing so not much help. Maybe someone else can add some insight. Free bump

Here's something I thought of after I made this and looked over the salifert instructions again. I was originally running on little sleep when reading all the details of the instructions and after taking a second glance at it, if I added ONE drop of agent into the RODI water and it changed color then that would leave .98 ml of agent left which would mean 0 ALK. If I used the full 1 ML of agent then it would be high, correct?

Doh! Well I now feel like an idiot, last time I try to read instructions on little to no sleep. Therefore there is no ALK in my RODI as it only took one drop to change the color. I was reading the chart and levels vise versa

Sounds right the rodi should strip the water of everything. No worries now you know
