RODI booster pump not turning on?

I got a booster pump from D&D and this thing just is not activating. Flow is going in the correct direction, plug it in and the pump is dead silent.

I must be missing something really obvious here, unless the unit was dead on arrival? Do I need to hook up some kind of pressure valve/auto shut off or something?

Hello.
Do you have a pressure gauge on your system?
Also, be sure to have an appropriately sized flow restrictor. My booster pump makes almost no noise at all, but does get warm to the touch when running.
