RODI Booster pumps - on all the time?

I just installed the BRS 6 stage, and I was shocked at how low my water pressure is. I can't find my water pressure regulator to save my life, so the booster pump won the day.

The question is, should I unplug the booster pump after each use, or just let the auto shut-off handle that?

I’m sure others with more experience will chip in, but I would expect you can leave it on 24x7. I have a pump in my rainwater tank that is on 24x7 and only runs when I turn the tap on. It obviously uses a pressure sensitive control that only allows the pump to run when the outlet pressure drops (i.e. me opening the tap to water my garden). My RODI waste feeds into this so I get to use that water.

I would use a pressure switch to automatically turn on/off the booster pump, something like this:

I used to use a booster pump at my previous house and it had an auto shutoff switch so it could stay plugged in all the time and only turned on when needed.

No need to unplug anything depending on which booster pump you use, the majority of the ones that are recommended to hobbyists have an auto on/off switch included that reacts to pressure/flow in the line. When you open the valve to start your RODI the pump senses the pressure drop and starts pumping, when you turn it off it senses the spike in pressure and shuts off.

Just make sure you get the pump kit (which should include the pressure switch mentioned above).

I shut my booster pump off manually after each use with a switch I installed in the power cord, although the auto-shutoff switch and wiring harness are definitely the way to go if you're set up for it.
