How is everyone storing their RODI filters?
Is there a correct way to mount them to a wall?
I'm new to making my own RODI and I'm not sure if it's more effective on the filters or water pressure to be oriented a certain way.
Also, are they supposed to be drained after being used or does the residual water just stay inside the unit?
Perhaps I'm way over thinking this haha...seems likely [emoji23]

I have mine mounted flush and level on the wall. And there is some water still left in the unit after use my system has a fast flush that I flush before and after each use.

Cheers Erik! That's probably the best way to do things! Flushing helps alot with the TDS creep that happens while the unit is sitting !! Also helps to prolong the life of the membrane by flushing before you shut it off to help get rid of any residuals that have started to gather in the membranes!

If you don't have the option to flush just make sure that you membrane doesn't go dry ( you can go ahead and just leave the water that's in it)!!

The instructions said in order to flush it, all you do is let it run for 45-60 minutes. Does that sound right? To me it just sounds like a waste of good water haha.
I'll just drain the hoses and let it sit with water in the actual filter.
Thanks everyone!

When new filters are installed I run about 10 gallons of good water then dump then start producing useful water. Not sure if you have a fast flush valve or not but I run my flush for one minute before and after each use.

Thanks @EriksOasis! That's pretty much what I've done.
I don't have a fast flush valve, it's just a cheap 3 stage filter from eBay so I'm lacking some features.

I'm getting 0.00 TDS out of it and added enough AF sea salt to make it up to 1.025sg. After two days of agitation and being covered, I had a slight green/brown ring around the water line.
This shouldn't happen with 0 TDS and synthetic salt should it? Should I be on the lookout for another issue?
I'll test some fresh salt water tomorrow and see what my levels are like.

AF salt has probiotics which can cause this if being agitated while being stored. I've heard of a few others having the same issue before. Never used AF salt myself so I can't speak from personal experience but when looking around for salt for my first system that was one thing I read a lot about and decided to go with red Sea instead.

Thanks :)
I'm not using the probiotic salt though. I'm just using the normal sea salt instead of the reef salt.
I assumed I wouldn't get the green, but I'll look into it more. Cheers!

I figured you were using there regular salt but wasn't sure, I had heard they all have a little probiotics but who knows for sure.
