Thinking of setting up a system as FOWLR and wondering if RODI is necessary without coral. My house has a whole home filter so filtered down to 5 microns and then run through carbon. Would still dose for chlorine/etc just to be on the safe side. When I run the house water to my RODI for the reef, my TDS meter is only reading 4-8 before the filter.

Whatever is in the tank the hobby is keeping water with the best possible quality, you then add whatever you like be it fish only or coral

Yes, RODI is strongly recommended in most cases for all types of saltwater livestock.

You could probably be OK ( but not ideal) with mixing your salt with high quality, filtered water, but if you use same water as top of for evaporation, you would gradually increase mineral content of your water and change relative concentration of dissolved ions .

good morning, Reefers do you have to use rodi water for your ato or could you use ro water
