RODI from LFS at 175 ppm TDS

I've been using RO/DI water from my LFS and haven't had any problems.
Just got an HM Digital TDS-3 meter and see:

RO/DI from LFS = 175 ppm
Sparkletts water = 8 ppm
Tap water = 445 ppm (expected per municipal water quality report)

So,,, uhhh,,, 175 ppm TDS for the RO/DI water I'm using is pretty bad, right?
Been thinking about getting BRS 6 stage RODI unit so I guess it's probably about time.

You probably filled a bucket that had salt water in it. Even a drop of saltwater in a Pail will raise tds.

You should get your own water maker anyway

Interesting thought and I was hoping you were onto something -- I did test in 3 quart container that I sometimes dip off my Hanna salinity tester in.

Just tested a few other random samples, however, and getting the same thing.

I buy and store bulk RO/DI water in 5 gallon Sparkletts bottles so I suppose there could be some contamination in those but I tested samples from 3 different bottles and all were the same so now really questioning the RO/DI from my LFS, or at least the last batch I got.

*I do agree I should get my own RO/DI unit anyway but just hadn't made it a priority (yet).

Yikes! My tap water is only 23 tds. My filters last forever

If its really 175 tds, you need to buy water from an different LFS asap!

Final update in case anyone cares...

Emailed LFS about this when I first tested.
Owner contacted me and confirmed that they were already aware and had fixed the issue.
Replaced my batch for free (of course) and new batch is measuring at 0 TDS (per my handheld HM Digital TDS-3 meter).

How many times I've used an "out of spec" batch over the last year or so is another question but, for now, I guess I'm OK until I buy my own RO/DI unit.
