Where did you decide to instal your RODI station?

Or are you mobile?

Or semi- Mobile?

I am buying my first home soon and the plans for the dream tank are in the making already. And I have pros and cons to Basement vs Tank-Floor rodi stations.

I've heard of carts, closets, auto ato lines through the house, basement is best from what I've seen but at more cost...

What's your rodi location in your home and why did you like it their best?
MY Rodi unit is in the basement. as is one of my tanks.

I also ran a line up to my upstairs discus tank with an ATO which worked fine - so I dont think you 'need' to have it on the same floor.

We have a spare bathroom downstairs with a tub/shower that never gets used. My RO/DI is more or less permanently attached via a shower stem adaptor, and I fill buckets in the tub.

This has the added bonus of 100% failsafe overflow protection...

I started doing mine in the tub as well. But in my actual tub I shower in... I keep the buckets spotless so np there.

It is nice to have piece of mind until I buy a float switch.

Yes it is! My original intention was to set it up somewhere with a float switch, but it's so convenient where it is, it keeps falling down the to do list...

Basement here, but my tank is in the basement rec room, and the sump is on the other side of a wall in an unfinished portion with the RO/DI along with the holding bins for fresh & saltwater & ATO. I tee'd the RO/DI off to the ATO and freshwater bin and have a float valve in each and run it over night when I need to fill one then manually shut it off in the morning with ball valves. Never had an issue after putting in the float valves 5 or 6 years ago.

Before the float valves I turned it on during the day and "watched" it, which resulted in it over flowing usually. My ATO is 30 gallons and freshwater bin is 45 gallons so it takes a while.

I found a cheap RO/faucet system on costway. It came with a booster pump, reservoir and faucet for $117. I added a small DI cartridge ($20) and inline TDS meters ($40) and it works like a champ. I have a small system and so only make 5-10 gallons at a time but we mostly use it for drinking water. Coincidently at the same time our community started having problems with the water mains and we were getting a lot of brown water. It turned out to be a timely installation. No more Britta pitchers for us!

Its in my laundry room. I don't have a basement and I didn't put it in my garage because I live in Scottsdale Arizona and the temp in the garage during the summer can get up to 120 degrees. I read some posts here saying the temp is not an issue but I was not comfortable with it. I may move it to the garage in the future though. And the laundry room is closer to my tank.
My biggest pet peeve of moving to AZ was discovering that most homes do no have basements. It makes it that much more difficult for hobby storage.

Haha

The classic "watch the rodi" mishap. Weve all been there.

So where is it located?

I have the BRS 150 gal/day system. I store it in the garage when not using it. I keep it separated into two units. I connect the DI unit when I set the system up on the kitchen counter. I fill 4 5 gal jugs and top off several tanks. Then I pull the hose from the RO to the DI and put it back in the garage. Takes less than 2 minutes to set up and take down. I have quick disconnect on the water in line. Local water pressure is 75 psi so no need for booster pump. During the winter months I run a mix of hot & cold water to feed the RO unit tepid water. I get better efficiency that way. The BRS 150 system has about a 1 to 1 product to reject water ratio. I use the reject water in the summer to water plants and the garden. I'm in Texas so that reject water is welcomed by the plants in the summer.

I used to supply hot & cold water with supply & drain hooked up to the clothes washer in the garageee . Ran the lines thru the wall . Now it's in the fish room but again ran thru the wall & supplied from the kitchen sink .

Mine is in the garage. I have line to fill up the WC tank and one to my top off barrel so I don’t have lug buckets. When in lived in another house it was in the basement and had the tubing go up to the top off barrel. 7A2B3356-2A52-4005-9CDF-720507003A34.jpeg 963BA05E-A790-48F3-9F1F-8CD2996D9039.jpeg

Compact. I like it.

I put the one for my 150 gallon In my utility so I could top off ato, reservoir, 300 gallon sump (cycling to add to 150 display) and to tap into my water in utility... currently working on so this isn't finished.. trident comes in tomorrow and have to install the shelf for it and my last dos for auto water change.. 200 gallon storage tanks for rodi and salt are in garage not to far away. Plus my rodi system is way over kill as it has 9 stages... 10 including the prefilter for my booster pump. OCD.
