RODI installation in laundry room? Double Y splitter?

So I'm thinking about putting my RODI in my laundry room which is actually my garage. First off is the cold water line here an OK source to use?

If so, my cold water line is already split using a Y adapter that goes to our washer and dryer. I honestly don't ever use the features on the dryer that take advantage of this line but I can't remember if there was a plug or something to put if you opt not to use the cold water line. Don't really feel like looking up the manual and fussing with the dryer.

Can I just add another Y (Double Y?)

Here's a pic of the current setup. Excuse the dirtiness of my plumbing. I'd prefer a non permanent solution as we rent and plan to get our own house in the future.

Yes you can use a "Y" or just use the line to your dryer (why a line to a dryer?)

dont think there would be a problem with a double y. You are supposed to use cold water in your ro/di so yes seems like it should be ok.

Double y is fine but do not use that adapter inside unless your garage had a drain.

I used it, it was fine for a year or so then one day I hear a hissing noise from the laundry room. It just popped off, use a solid brass y and if you want to close one side use a cap like this one

It has some fancy steam settings to help with wrinkles I think. It also has a refresh setting that uses this steam to refresh the clothes. I don't use those features but I still kind of want to leave it in place. Not sure if it throws a warning or something if the line is unplugged.

Ok, so after I get my RODI system setup and let's say I store the water in a 45 gallon bucket. What's the best way to get that water to my ATO reservoir and my 5 gallon buckets? Let's say i want to pump some into another 45 gallon bucket for mixing salt.

I figure that I will need a pump and some hose. Can I use like a standard water hose? I want a way to stop the water while I go run and turn the pump off. I want it to be simple, and cheap also haha. Sorry if I sound so dumb but I'm not much of a DIY'er and I don't want to go out and buy hoses and stuff and it turns out it's not a good way to do this.

Got my RODI system setup today. Doube Y did the trick. PSI is reading 80, pretty good right?

80 psi is great, wish mine was that high! You can use 1/4" splitters and valves to tee off the RODI water and send it where you want it. How far away is your ATO reservoir?

Any aquarium pump will do (Cheap but insanely durable and long lasting Mag Drives come to mind) I would suggest using barb fittings and vinyl hose to pump water where you would like, you can also use the pump to mix salt water. Add a valve on the line to turn the flow off or on, or grab a cheap wifi controllable plug and turn the pump on and off with your phone My personal favourite splitter for sending RODI water to two different places....

80 psi is great, wish mine was that high! You can use 1/4" splitters and valves to tee off the RODI water and send it where you want it. How far away is your ATO reservoir?

Maybe about 20 feet. I don't have the reservoir yet but still want to plan on how to get water there. Ah good idea. But what if I wanted to move the water that's already in the 45 gallon trash can? I know I can probably just siphon into 5 gallon buckets but seems kind of counter productive.

And nothing bad will happen by turning off the valve while I walk back to the garage to turn off the pump?

As long as you clamp the hose around the barb fitting, nothing atall will happen, it's a little hard on the pump but not the end of the world. As I mentioned earlier a Wi-Fi controllable outlet would be a snap to install and you can turn it off in a second. LOTS of options for You to choose from

me personally, i would have float valves on every bucket and lots of 3 way quick connnect fittings.

That is a pretty good idea.

Could put the pump on a wifi connected smart plug and control it with your phone, an Alexa or Google Home. Put a secondary switch on it so the pump can't go on when you don't want it to, Lowes, Home Depot sell a switched plug.

Just to be sure, I have a dryer that does steam also. But my water input into the dryer is on the hot side, not the cold side.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Thanks for asking though. That's one of the things I made sure to verify before I turned on the RODI System.
