Well got me a 55g barrel it was used for glue like a envelope has on it i used vinagur and hot water to clean it think ill be ok? Its a blue plastic one

I would not risk it. To be frank: A brand new drum costs, maybe $100... How much would it cost if you nuke your tank?

When push comes to shove, you could potentially kill your little friends. Would you drink the water out of it? Would you store and mix wet dog food in it for your puppy? Would you mix Kraft Dinner in it for your kids... Okay, I think my point is clear, lol...

This, or find a used food safe container that was used for food or water. I got a couple food safe 55 gallon drums on craigslist for $20 each.
