I'm starting to build my RODI mixing station using 2 44 gallons Brute containers. I was wondering what size Bulkhead people are using? I know people will say use a uniseal but I'm going with a real bulkhead. Not sure if I should go 3/4 or 1 inch on the bulkheads.

so i should go with a 2" Bulkhead? I was just going to do a 1" bulkhead with 1' piping throughout. Is that to small?

It is a mixing station. I would use a 1" bulkhead and 1" pipe. Here is a picture of my set up.

My RO/DI feeds into the left container. It has a float valve for the RO/DI. If I open the top valves in front of both containers... both are filled at the same time. Once filled, I will close of the right container and use it to do premix. I have a water pump in it to keep it circulated. I then have the fill valve that allows a gravity feed into the bucket. I just select what I want, premix or RO/DI.

Since these are 1" they fit also the jugs under the stand, where a 2" may be a pretty tight fit. I supply three tanks with this set up. Only one of which is easily accessible. I also have a couple of guys who come over on occasion for RO and Premix instead of a LFS.

I had plans to plumb the mixing station over to the sump in the foreground (which feeds my 180 mixed reef upstairs) and create an automated water change program as well as a topoff regimine. I decided not to go that route as I have two other tanks I need to service in the house. I have had this going for a few years now. I have not had any problems with it.

no problems using bulkheads on the containers because of the curve?[/QUOTE]

No problem. The system set up is about 7 years old. It has been moved once... to it present location when I built the fish room 3 years ago. I have only replaced the valve for the gravity feed into the bucket once... I must have had too much bourbon that night.... I broke it filling a container for a friend. Other than that, it has been bullet proof. Now where is a good piece of wood to knock on.... I hope I didnt just jinx myself.

**One note... don't overtighen!!!! Those were hand tightened.
