I have to carry my RODI system in and out of the bathroom as I need to make water. I am thinking about using a cheap hand truck from Harbor Freight and mount all of the RODI components from a board strapped to the hand truck so I can wheel it in and out. I have the booster pump as well so it would be handy to have everything mounted on a board together.
Anyone ever tried this or have pics or suggestions to share?

@mrbacony i came “this close” to doing the same until I did something completely different. Things that came to mind.

1, Use a platform truck for stability. I found a nice one with 5” wheels to move easily over tiled floors. Using a handtruck is risky given the weight of the water and how it will slosh around.

2, The RODI system would be mounted to a panel secured to the handles with the gear facing away from the platform. The Brute can would be strapped to the handles. Mount the plumbing and external pump on the rest of the platform.

3. XP Aqua RODI flood guardian to manage filling.

hope this is helpful

I am actually not going to be attaching the Brute trash can to the setup. It is close enough that I can run my tubing into my fish room. That would have been a better idea to use the platform truck if I was going to mount the trash can.
i know the platform truck would be more stable even without the trash can, but it also takes up more room. I am sure I will have to lean the hand truck against a counter to keep it from tipping unless I can come up with a counter weight of some sort.

I build a wooden frame to hold mine that I sat in my closet beside my bathroom many years ago but I never moved it so I didn't need the hand truck. I just ran the two hoses into the bathroom when I needed to make water.
Why not just build a flat platform on the bottom and attach casters?

My RODI containers are in the backyard so I made up this stand out of extruded aluminum mounted on wheels and covered in a basic cabinet for protection.

From an old Project Board, that i made for a child’s Science Fair Project. BTW it is quite heavy.

Thanks for the pictures and ideas. I think I will need bigger wheels than casters because it will be pulled over carpet. I think the bigger wheels would roll easier
Steve, your setup looks almost exactly like mine, but I have one less DI canister. I would bet it is heavy, hence the reason I want to mount it to wheels.

So here it is. Very simple to build and makes transport around the house much easier.
Just a plywood base painted white and mounted on a $29 hand truck from Harbor Freight. I tie strapped a piece of 2x4 to keep it upright and from leaning over. Works great!

That’s awesome

I don’t know if it was Harbor Freight or Northern Tool, they had a light weight, but heavy enough for RO/DI, Hand Truck, that the handle could collapse into itself. Be great for putting it in a closet. If you have an RO/DI System, especially one with a Booster Pump, make sure you use the Mur-lok Locking Clips, so you don’t have a flood.

Awesome I've shared this thread several times to people that are worried about making something permanent, you have a great little system there, good job.

Hey this might help since my tabk is upstairs and my rodi is down. Hook one ip in my boys br and move to my utility(wife’s linen don’t tell I call it that) closet when done.
