I just purchased a BRS 150 gpd 6 Stage Water Saver Deluxe Plus and I plan to set it up in the kitchen (non-permanent), filling gallon size jugs and then putting it away after making what I need. So my questions are:

  • Is their a right and wrong way to shut down an RODI after making enough water? Do I turn off the kitchen faucet first or close the inline ball valves on the waste and product lines?
  • Since I plan on filling gallon size jugs instead of using a large container with a stop valve, is their any benefits to removing the ASOV?
  • What is the proper way to use the flush valve?
ANY advice, suggestions, or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

that's a large system to be filling gallon jugs , i would definitely stay nearby and then set a timer after you figure out how long it takes. As someone who has flooded the floor several times filling gallon jugs just trust me. Also turn off faucet first and then you can close the valves. If its connected to the sink faucet and being disconnected after use,you don't want to close the valves with pressure on them and then try to unscrew that from the faucet

I prefer to close source and let system depressurize. Right or wrong? Not sure but prevents spray if you're disconnecting. I do think important to flush the RO unit at beginning and end. I only run 20g at a time so don't need to bypass/flush in middle. Lots of good vids on how and why you do that.

But....I can't imagine filling one gallon jugs. Well actually I can and yikes. At the very least I'd recommend one 5 gallon bucket with a spigot and float valve. Then transfer to one gallon jugs if you must. Or better, get 5 gallon jugs. Filling one gal at a time will be tedious and you'll walk away and there's water overflowing. Heck, ive done that with 5 gal bucket. That's why you want a float valve.

Good luck. Great RODI unit there you have.

You are going to drive yourself crazy with gallon jugs in short order. If you can, pick up one or more of something like this to store your water

Just make sure whatever you get is food safe and BPA free.

You will also eventually forget about it while filling, especially if you have a family or watch sports lol. Make sure you fill the container in the sink with the drain open. Then when you forget, you just wasted some RO water instead of flooding your kitchen...

Thanks everyone! I'm going to use a timer and place the jugs in the sink as you guys suggested. I'm using gallon jugs due to some physical issues, but hopefully I'll be able to use larger containers in the near future. Once again, your help is greatly appreciated.
