RODI Not Putting Out 0 TDS

When I start the unit the output from the membrane shows 280 and the output from the DI stage shows around 10. After running the unit for about a minute is when it drops fully to the 36 and 8 respectively

Sorry I should have clarified I meant back a couple months ago when you initially installed and started using. With your original membrane.

He meant your initial reading out of ro with new ro membrane

First image is from the BRS RODI system manual (I have the plus system) and the second is from the RODI buddy manual. Those are the prices I removed as directed

I'm unsure how smart buddy operates. So if it isn't automatically flushing your membrane then that's where my money is at with 550 source TDS.

I'm assuming your not performing any manual flushes correct?

Yes you still have to flip the blue switch prior to use for a couple minutes the. Flip back to flush your membrane.

When I started using it I was seeing around the same from the new membrane right after putting it in. About 35 TDS still

Correct. I have a valve between the bucket and the output from the entire system so that I can move the bucket wherever I need the water. Otherwise nothing else has been added beyond what the diagram shows. I am going to verify quick that my ro lines are exactly the same as this diagram they provide

If you had the same numbers before as now it may not be fully seated in the housing and your getting carryover/bleed through.

I was hoping you were going to say ~10 this way we would have known it was properly functional upon initial install.

Now It seems like a setup issue.

Based on what @Dbichler said with the RO buddy you still have to manually open the valve on the BRS unit to actually perform a flush.

So if you haven't flipped that valve open you haven't been flushing membrane which is another good way to kill membranes prematurely.

I watched the video here again https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/smart-buddie-rodi-booster-pump-aquatic-life.html

I’m thinking what I may be doing incorrectly is plugging it in only as needed. When I need RODI water I plug it in and supposedly it flushes before running each time

I’m not sure if that’s helpful for if I may be doing something wrong

Correct however if it was always at 36ppm then there’s something else going on. Is your sediment filter dirty? Is your carbon exhausted? Is it plumbed in the order of sed carbon ro di. Is your membrane in properly with correct seal. All things to check.

How do you check if the membrane is properly seated? I just pushed it in as far as it would go

Reseated the membrane and heard the pop when it clicked in. Also checked all o-rings and gaskets to make sure they weren’t damaged. Started it again and still seeing around 30 TDS

Not the ops problem obviously however how can a pump flush a ro membrane without restricting water to di units.

I assumed it worked just like every other flush valve and bypassed the flow restrictor.
