Hey everyone,

I just bought an awesome RODI unit however I'm in a bit of a bind.

My main water line doesn't close all the way when it runs to the house and yes I know I need that fixed. So I am curious would I be able to use a y-joint on the cold water to my laundry machine and use the other side for the RODI? Or is that a bad idea? Will it cause a weird pressure issue for the laundry machine? Sorry I'm super ignorant at this sort of thing.

I have attached a pic of how it looks right now

Yes, you can do that. Just get a Y adapter with separate valves/shut offs for each side.

In my old house that's how I had mine set up and I had no issues. It's just another "tap" into your water supply.

I do that with no trouble. My Y adapter as a valve on each side so I can turn the RODI off independently.
That's exactly what I was thinking too. How do you find the pressure? Any issues?

If you don't mind can I see a picture of yours?

That's what I figure. I figured it would be a better alternative then messing about with the main water line.

I don't have any pressure issues at all. I'm no plumber but I can't imagine the Y makes much of a difference, especially if you're typically only using one side. I'm sure I've run the washer while using the rodi, but never compared the output.

I have a Y connector for my ro system and washer machine as well. I stop my ro system with a valve at the end of the ro tube with back pressure

Was actually about to ask if you've run them at the same time! My rodi unit has a booster pump and TDS meter all built in
